KIDS stands for “Kids’ Intensive Care and Decision Support”, (http://kids.bch.nhs.uk/) a children’s acute retrieval and advice service which specialises in the management of critically ill children requiring Intensive Care.
Based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH), KIDS are a skilled Paediatric Intensive Care team available 24 hours a day to assist in the treatment of critically ill children, both before and during transfer to intensive care.
Wilf experienced a number of transfers to and from Paediatric Intensive Care, and always received outstanding care from the KIDS team. It was the KIDS team who provided the people and transport that allowed Wilf to make his trip to the seaside in 2014. He loved meeting Violet on the beach and paddling in the sea with Sarah and Alex, scenes captured for the BBC documentary ‘Children’s Hospital: The Chaplains’ (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p029h3qh).
KIDS was one of the chosen charities of the Big Red Bus Ball 2017.
