Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House Charities provides free 'home away from home' accommodation to families while their child is in hospital

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC www.rmhc.org.uk) is an independent Charity which aims to provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation at hospitals across the UK, enabling families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal family life.

The Birmingham house is located next door to the Children’s Hospital. When Wilf was very poorly, the location of the house meant that we were never more than 5 minutes away. Whilst one of us often stayed with Wilf, it meant that the other could escape the hospital environment for a short time. There were times when we were called across to the hospital during the night, but the comfort of knowing how close we were meant that we could, to some degree, rest.

The Birmingham House of the Ronald McDonald Charity has been such an important support for our family, as it is for so many others.

Ronald McDonald House was one of the chosen charities of the Big Red Bus Ball 2015.
